Baltimore County police are conducting a homicide investigation after skeletal remains were discovered in a creek on Friday morning.
The remains were located in a tributary of Back River, near the interchange of Route 702 and Interstate 695, following a report of potential human remains in the area.
Authorities have transported the remains to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to establish identity and determine the cause and manner of death.
Detectives are particularly focused on identifying the remains as those of 46-year-old Kimberly Gordon, who has been missing from New Jersey since June 21.
The police are urging anyone with information related to the case to reach out to the Baltimore County Police Department at 410-887-4636.
