BALTIMORE — Captain James Crab House, a cherished family-owned restaurant in Fells Point, has announced that it will remain closed for the remainder of the season following a fire that occurred over the weekend.
The establishment shared the news via social media, expressing gratitude for the support received from the community and the Baltimore City Fire Department. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
While the cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed by either the Fire Department or the restaurant, Captain James Crab House emphasized their appreciation for first responders, stating, "While our hearts are heavy, our gratitude is even greater." They acknowledged the firefighters' efforts in protecting not just the building, but the legacy of the restaurant, which has been a staple in Baltimore since 1979.
Although the crab house will be closed, the restaurant's ship-like structure remains intact, and a related dining venue across the street continues to operate.
