Community Mobilizes to Find Missing Baltimore Woman Darlene Campbell

Darlene Campbell, a 72-year-old Baltimore woman known for her caring nature, has been reported missing after last being seen on June 17. Campbell, who has dementia, was last spotted near her home in the Charles Village neighborhood.

Her daughter, Lisa Campbell, described Darlene as the family's cornerstone, often helping others and taking care of relatives in need. "She would go the extra mile for you," Lisa said, emphasizing her mother's nurturing spirit.

On the evening of her disappearance, Darlene was seen leaving her home on E 28th Street, dressed in pajama pants, a black and white top, a turban, and black sneakers. After leaving, she spent nearly two hours at a senior living facility on Barclay Avenue before being excused, a situation Lisa believes arose from a lack of recognition of her mother's vulnerabilities.

Surveillance footage captured Darlene walking east toward Greenmount Avenue, but since then, the family has received minimal credible information regarding her whereabouts. The Baltimore Police Department is actively seeking assistance from the public in locating her.

Lisa Campbell expressed her concern, noting that her mother is a fall risk and has not taken walks for over a year due to leg pain. She urged anyone who might find Darlene to stay with her until help arrives, highlighting that her mother is generally friendly and aware of her surroundings, although she may experience confusion.

The community has rallied together to assist in the search, with a planned event set for Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at King and Kennedy Park. Family and friends have been canvassing the area daily, hoping for any leads on Darlene's location.

“This has been a very difficult time for us,” Lisa said, reflecting on the emotional toll of the search. “She is a very loving and caring person, definitely the backbone of our family.”
