Delaware State Police Investigate Ocean City Police Corporal

OCEAN CITY, Md. — An investigation has been launched by the Delaware State Police into a corporal from the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD), according to a spokesperson.

Corporal Benjamin Berry, who has been with the OCPD since 2012, was already on paid administrative leave due to an unrelated issue that began earlier in June. Recently, a second administrative investigation was initiated.

As a result of the ongoing investigations, Berry will have his police powers suspended. This suspension includes restricted access to law enforcement databases and the Public Safety Building, as stated by the OCPD.

The Ocean City Police Department emphasized its commitment to cooperating with the Delaware State Police during this investigation while also managing their internal reviews.

Additionally, reports indicate that Berry's wife, Kimberly, was dismissed from her position with Worcester County Public Schools following allegations made online. WMAR-2 News has reached out to the school district for further comments but is still awaiting a response.

Delaware State Police confirmed that both Benjamin and Kimberly Berry are subjects of the investigation. At this point, officials have indicated there are no known threats to public safety associated with the case, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains active, and further details have not been released.

This story is developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
