A 9-year-old boy with autism was successfully rescued from a body of water in the Hollywood area of St. Mary's County on Friday, July 17th. The incident prompted a swift response from multiple agencies.
Upon receiving the report of the missing child, a collaborative search effort was initiated, involving the Maryland State Police, Maryland Natural Resources Police, and the Maryland State Police Aviation Command, along with the St. Mary's County Department of Emergency Services and several local fire and EMS teams.
During the search, the child was located near the water. Deputy Matthew Camp, who was part of the responding team, immediately entered the water, swam to the boy, and brought him back to safety on shore.
Following the rescue, the boy was evaluated by medical personnel and was later reunited with his family. The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the child is in good condition.
