Dr. Jermaine Dawson, the newly appointed CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools, presented his 100-day entry plan aimed at elevating educational outcomes during a visit to the Baltimore Design School on Monday.
Focusing on student achievement, Dawson emphasized the importance of enhancing literacy and math instruction. He outlined a structured approach to his initial days in office.
Phased Approach to Improvement
Dawson's plan is divided into three key phases:
- Days 1-30: Engaging with students, families, and community members to gather insights on their experiences and priorities.
- Days 31-60: Entering the Discovery Phase, where an independent transition team will be formed, comprising district employees to analyze the current state of the schools.
- Days 61-100: The Delivery Phase will focus on implementing immediate improvements while also laying the groundwork for long-term strategies and a comprehensive strategic plan.
As part of his outreach, Dawson will embark on a six-stop listening tour later this month, visiting various schools and neighborhoods throughout the city.
In addition to community engagement, the district is set to introduce a new customer service platform named Onflow, designed to facilitate communication by allowing students, staff, and families to submit questions and express concerns.
