PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — A tragic accident in Prince George's County over the weekend has left three people dead, according to Maryland State Police.
Authorities responded to a report of the crash on Route 301 at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sunday. The incident involved a black Tesla Model 3 and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Investigations revealed that the Tesla was making a left turn from Route 301 onto Governor's Park Lane when it failed to yield to the southbound Harley-Davidson, resulting in a collision on the passenger side of the Tesla.
Following the initial crash, a third vehicle struck a passenger from the Harley and subsequently fled the scene. The driver of the Harley, identified as Matthew Eric Vowell, 48, and his passenger, Krystal Ann Vowell, 47, both died at the scene. The rear passenger of the Tesla, Adriana Lanae Maxwell, 22, also succumbed to injuries at the site of the accident.
The driver of the Tesla was transported to a local hospital for medical assistance. Reports indicate that the Tesla driver was operating as a rideshare service at the time of the incident.
Road closures were enforced for over four hours as the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the situation.
While no description of the fleeing vehicle has been provided, police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the driver. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police at 410-819-4753.
