ANNAPOLIS, MD – In a significant move for Maryland's judiciary, Governor Wes Moore has announced the appointment of six legal professionals to serve as judges in the District Courts of Prince George’s and Washington Counties.
Among the appointees for Prince George’s County District Court are:
- Daniel Kyungmin Kim - Currently the Assistant Chief of the Homicide and Strategic Investigations Units at the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, Kim has extensive experience in prosecution and law enforcement.
- Julia Simone Gagne Rupert - An Assistant Attorney General specializing in Criminal Appeals, Rupert has a strong background in juvenile law and has served as a prosecutor in both D.C. and Maryland.
- Jessica Lowell Garth - As the Chief of the Special Victims Unit, Garth has focused on sensitive cases involving domestic violence and child abuse, while also advocating for legislative changes.
- William Carl Isler, II - With over a decade of experience in legal services and compliance, Isler has held various leadership roles within the Maryland State Bar Association.
For Washington County District Court, the new appointees include:
- Travis William Poole - Currently serving as Supervising Attorney for the Western Maryland Region, Poole has represented various human services agencies and has a background in criminal law.
- Mikhaila Miriam Eugenia Mc Nicolls - A co-managing partner at a local law firm, Mc Nicolls brings experience from both public defense and private practice, along with a unique international perspective.
Governor Moore expressed his confidence in the capabilities of the appointees, stating, "It is an honor to appoint this slate of talented legal professionals to Prince George’s County and Washington County’s District Court. Thanks to their years of experience and guided by a wealth of legal expertise, I know all of them will serve our state well."
