ROCKY RIDGE, Md. — A man has been taken into custody after an incident that involved a machete attack at Loy's Station Park on Wednesday.
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office reported that 36-year-old Michael Anthony Faya was involved in a confrontation with another man, which escalated into violence. The two men, who were driving in separate vehicles, stopped at the park and engaged in a physical altercation.
During the fight, Faya allegedly used a machete to strike the victim in the head and arm.
When law enforcement arrived at the park, they found the victim in need of medical assistance, while Faya had already left the scene. The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital and has since been released.
Authorities located and arrested Faya at his residence in Walkersville later that day. The motive for the fight remains unclear, as does whether the two men were previously acquainted.
