Pikesville Residents Struggle Without Power After Weekend Storms

Pikesville, Md. — A significant storm that swept through the area on Saturday night left numerous residents in Pikesville without power, with many still affected as of Sunday. The storm caused extensive damage, including downed trees and power lines, leaving tens of thousands without electricity.

The timing of the outage could not be worse, as temperatures soared into the 90s. Local residents like Paul Moos expressed concern about the heat, stating, “It’s already in the 90s up there without the AC on, so I know I’m not sleeping here tonight.”

With no power, many residents are forced to make alternative arrangements to stay cool. Charlie Citrenbaum mentioned he would be heading to a family member’s home, taking frozen food with him to store in their refrigerator.

According to Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), power restoration efforts may take until Tuesday night for some residents. Moos highlighted the lengthy wait, saying, “Well, it’s Sunday morning, so that’s a long time.”

Others in the area, such as Rob Pearce and Brian Scott, prepared for the possibility of extended outages. Scott recalled hearing a neighbor’s generator kick on shortly after the power went out, signaling trouble ahead. Pearce, who managed to acquire a generator, noted, “We were blessed because we had the means to be able to get a generator, which we bought this afternoon.”

As more storms are expected on Sunday night, residents are bracing themselves for further challenges while BGE has ramped up staffing to expedite restoration efforts.
