A shooting in Southwest Baltimore on Saturday night resulted in the death of a man and injuries to a woman, according to police reports.

Officers arrived at the scene in the 200 block of North Payson Street at approximately 9:42 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered a 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both sustaining gunshot wounds.

The victims were quickly transported to local hospitals, where the man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The woman is reported to have sustained injuries that are not life-threatening. Authorities have not disclosed whether the two individuals were connected in any way.

Lindsey Eldridge, a representative from the Baltimore Police Department, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with detectives actively pursuing leads related to the incident.

According to the latest statistics from the Baltimore Police Department, there have been 53 homicides and 175 non-fatal shootings in Baltimore this year. In comparison, the same period last year recorded 77 homicides alongside 175 non-fatal shootings.

This year is on track to show a significant decrease in homicides, with the city experiencing the lowest number of killings in the first half of 2026 since 1970.
