Silver Spring Man Arrested for Kidnapping After Posing as Police Officer

A Silver Spring resident has been arrested and charged with kidnapping after allegedly posing as a police officer in two separate incidents involving sex workers last week.

Bryan Neal Gordon, 27, is facing serious charges in both Charles and Anne Arundel counties, according to court documents. His arrest occurred on June 29 after a traffic stop by a Maryland Transportation Authority police officer for making an illegal U-turn.

In the first incident, which took place on the night of June 28 in Waldorf, Gordon contacted a sex worker through an online platform. Upon her entering his vehicle around 10:30 p.m., he reportedly claimed to be a police officer, handcuffed her, and drove her to another location where he sexually assaulted her. The victim managed to escape after removing the handcuffs and called the police for help. Surveillance footage from a nearby church captured her running and hiding behind vehicles around 3:15 a.m. on June 29.

During the investigation, the victim recounted that Gordon threatened her with a knife and that she managed to injure him by striking him in the face with the handcuffs.

Gordon is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, second-degree assault, theft under $100, and procuring a prostitute in Charles County.

Hours later, after the first victim reported the incident, another woman exited Gordon's vehicle when it was pulled over by police near Baltimore-Washington International Airport. She informed officers that Gordon had kidnapped her, showing them the handcuffs he had used. According to her statement, he had picked her up from a hotel and had initially planned to remain in the parking lot before driving away and claiming she was under arrest.

In this second incident, the woman attempted to defend herself by hitting Gordon with a wine bottle, but he overpowered her. Investigators noted that Gordon had several fresh injuries, including a large lump on his forehead.

A search of his vehicle uncovered a broken fingernail matching the victim's description and the wine bottle used in the altercation.

In Anne Arundel County, Gordon faces charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, reckless endangerment, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and robbery.
