A girl tragically died on Tuesday in Ellicott City after falling from her bicycle into the path of a dump truck.
The accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Daniels Road, an area known for its proximity to the Patapsco River and Patapsco Valley State Park, which serves as a popular parking spot for visitors accessing Daniels Dam.
According to Howard County police, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. The driver of the dump truck, a 2004 Sterling LT9500 model, was unharmed and remained on-site following the collision.
As of 5 p.m., Daniels Road was still closed while police continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities indicated that further information would be provided as it becomes available.
