Two teenagers from Mount Rainier have been arrested and charged in relation to the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy from Hyattsville.
According to the Prince George’s County Police, the suspects, both aged 16, were taken into custody on Thursday. They are facing serious charges including first- and second-degree murder, along with additional related offenses.
The incident occurred on June 12 in the 3700 block of Shepherd Street in Brentwood, where Ruben Arevalo Saavedra was shot. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators revealed that the shooting was a result of an ongoing dispute, indicating that the victim and the suspects were known to each other. Both teenagers are currently being held without bond at the county’s Department of Corrections.
