Join the TU Writing Center as we welcome Dr. Jennifer Sano-Franchini to campus for a conversation about GenAI and student writing! Dr. Sano-Franchini is the Gaziano Family Legacy Professor and an associate professor of English at West Virginia University. Her research and teaching interests are in the cultural politics of design, Asian American rhetoric, and technical communication. She currently serves as Immediate Past Chair of the Conference on College Composition and Communication.
This workshop session will discuss approaches for engaging the issue of generative AI in the college writing classroom in ways that foreground student learning, student agency, and meeting students where they are. We will also discuss strategies for motivating student writers at a time when generative AI platforms are seemingly free, purportedly efficient, and always available.
