Position Duties

Assist the Director by performing specific duties in multiple administrative areas of Counseling Center psychological services. Provide counseling and psychotherapy, crisis response and public health and outreach services to University students. Supervise professional staff and Post-Doctoral Fellows. Develop program goals and objectives utilizing the knowledge and application of psychological interventions, departmental and University policies and procedures. Provide clinical and/or administrative supervision of professional staff and conduct performance evaluations. Serve in the Director's absence.Essential Functions

Provide psychological services to students experiencing psychological disorders, crises, personal adjustment, developmental and/or psychological problems that require professional attention. Provide initial assessments, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical referral services and address daytime psychological emergencies. Provide 24-hr emergency crisis rotation, after-hours and weekends, to assess students for risk of harm to self or others, determine need for hospitalization, and accompany students to hospital for evaluation and possible inpatient admittance, and provide recommendations to Dean of Student's representatives regarding a student's aftercare at discharge from hospital. Provide consultation to concerned faculty, administrators and parents concerned about a student or involved in a student's safety plan. Partner with Director to develop department services, programs, policies, work goals and objectives; initiates changes in or develops new policies, procedures and/or methods based on current trends and best practices in college student mental health, well-being, welfare and risk management of University undergraduate and graduate students. Establish internal objectives of areas of administration and implements procedures to meet goals. Assist in setting department short and long-term goals. Analyze and evaluate ongoing programs in administrative areas to identify opportunities for adjustments/improvements; provide advice/consultation to others regarding problems; monitor status reports concerning projects assigned to others. Help evaluate overall program effectiveness. Coordinate multiple areas of Counseling Center administrative responsibility. Provide vision, leadership, and administrative oversight for Counseling Center Graduate Training Program, Staff Professional Development, and Social Justice. Serve on University commitees with focus areas related to Social Justice, such as President's Counsel on DE&I, Interfaith Council, and Bias Committee. Oversee Counseling Center Social Justice Committee. Provide clinical and administrative supervision for unlicensed professional staff and professional staff coordinating an area of service delivery. Schedule and evaluate staff performance conducting performance appraisal and reviews. Evaluate workload, priorities and activity schedules to determine staffing requirements. Provide clinical supervision and seminar trainings for Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program and/or graduate level Externship or Field Placement Program in psychology, social work or pastoral counseling. Oversee recuitment, onboarding, and implemenation of graduate training program. Maintain partnerships, and provide oversight of contractual agreements with area graduate programs from which trainees are recruited. Coordinate professional development trainings for staff, including in-service trainings and external opportunities. Oversee internal continuing education crediting process in keeping with MD Board statutes for Psychologists, Social Workers, and Professional Counselors. Facilitate Cultural Reflections professional development series. Participate in professional associations and continuing education programs to remain informed regarding new developments in the field and to maintain Maryland state licensure. Participate in Counseling Center staff multicultural professional development seminars. Non essential: Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Minimum of 5 years related experience providing clinical supervision, preferably experience with administrative responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Clinical and crisis intervention experience with traditional college-aged population and demonstrated multicultural competencies. Ability to support the University's goals for institutional diversity, as well as the goals and values of a Catholic, Jesuit education.
