General Purpose
To design, organize, and deliver an engaging mathematics instructional program within a technology-driven learning environment that inspires and motivates students to reach their academic goals.
Responsibilities
Create a dynamic classroom culture that promotes high achievement and encourages student ownership of their learning, fostering intellectual, social, and emotional development.Provide daily instruction with clear objectives, well-structured lessons, and effective assessments aligned with middle school curriculum and standards.Incorporate creative, hands-on learning experiences into lessons that enhance student involvement, stimulate interest, and encourage the practical application of knowledge and skills learned.Maintain a visually appealing classroom environment, rich with resources that reflect the curriculum and standards, while showcasing exemplary student work to celebrate their achievements.Engage with students to identify their talents, interests, and needs, clearly conveying learning expectations and progress towards meeting them.Communicate regularly with families to inform them about their child's talents, interests, needs, and academic progress.Collaborate with school colleagues and the broader community during staff meetings, analysis sessions, and professional development opportunities aimed at enhancing student learning experiences and achieving higher student success.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field from an accredited institution.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated mastery of middle school mathematics content.Preferred: One year of teaching experience in an urban school setting.Proven track record of high student achievement and significant growth in mathematics.Experience in teaching Algebra and pre-algebra.Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in mathematics.Successful completion of the Praxis II Exam.Evidence of ongoing professional development or continuing education.Two years of teaching experience with proven results in student achievement and growth.Familiarity with relevant technology or a willingness to learn.Current authorization to work in the United States.
