Main Purpose of Job

This position provides direct nursing care to severely emotionally disabled adolescents on a residential treatment unit. This position provides clinical and administrative supervision to RNs, LPNs and non-licensed staff. This position also supports the treatment of clients that is family driven and youth guided.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined\r\nby the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for\r\nRegistered Nurses.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience: Two years of\r\nexperience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the\r\nMedical option.\r\n\r\n\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the\r\npossession of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field from an\r\naccredited college or university for the one year of general experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the\r\npossession of a Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an\r\naccredited college or university may be substituted for the required\r\nexperience.\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S.\r\nArmed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing\r\nclassifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in\r\nthe Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required\r\nexperience.\r\n\r\n

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must possess at least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric facility.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience working with children and adolescents.\r\n Experience working in a mental health psychiatric environment.\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in\r\nthis classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from\r\nthe Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland\r\n21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates\r\nhave declared as primary states of residence.\r\n2. Employees in this\r\nclassification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an\r\nautomobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a\r\nmotor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n3. Employees in this\r\nclassification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary\r\nresuscitation training and maintain current certification.\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this\r\nclassification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to\r\nprovide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.\r\n2. Employees in this\r\nclassification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code\r\nof Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.\r\n
