Primary Purpose
Develop, implement, and execute on analysis, processes and projects within Investor Relations, focused on the various
areas of company and industry data analysis; market surveillance; communications/messaging; shareholder analysis;
valuation and analyst research; and earnings release preparation
Primary Duties
- Market Surveillance: Perform research and analytics to obtain surveillance on market
performance and expectations for EXC and peer companies. Prepare and distribute to EXC
management stock updates and monthly market summary. Monitor company and peer news
and prepare/gather talking points on relevant topics as needed. Support the maintenance of IR
Q&A document and ensure information is current. - Data Analysis: Work with IR team to expand fundamental analytical capabilities, specific to
Exelon as and more broadly to the utilities industry with the intent of providing broader stock
market perspective back into the organization. - Communications/Messaging: Prepare IR internal and external presentations, including sell-side
and EEI conference presentations, IR messaging meetings, annual investor sustainability report,
quarterly financial review, leadership, and Board of Directors presentations as they arise. Own
development of IR site and ensure content is up-to-date and complete on an ongoing basis.
Support the development of the organization through the development and presentation of IR 101
materials. - Shareholder Analysis: Perform research and analytics on EXC’s shareholders and shareholders
of peers in order to identify trends, identify new potential investors to be targeted, and prepare
reports of shareholder trends/types/shifts/activity for senior management on a formal and
as-needed basis. - Analyst Research: Leverage disclosure-related findings from regular IR model and sell-side
model review process to develop conference and other public presentations. Review sell-side
research and prepare IR summary of sell-side research for distribution to senior management as
needed. - Earnings Release Preparation: Assist in preparation of earnings release materials, including
leading efforts on the development of the earnings presentation. Tie-down all earnings
release materials for accuracy and consistency prior to release (including scripts; release;
slides; and Edgarized filings). Compile earnings season peer tracking document for IR
review and distribution to senior management. Develop post-earnings reaction materials for
distribution to senior management and Board of Directors.
Job Scope
Impact to corporate image is significant through work output and analytical projects. Results of analytical work, Q&A document and periodic reporting will be used by executives, directors and managers, Board of Directors, and external interested parties in their communications and decision-making processes that affect the Corporation. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical.
· Reports to Director of Investor Relations and provide support to CFO and VP of IR as necessary.
· Works with individuals across the Corporation in order to collect, analyze and prepare information.
· Key external constituents include (1) vendors ; (2) the buy-side: analysts and portfolio managers and (3) the sell-side:
utility research analysts (~15 – 25), mostly affiliated with the major brokerage firms, who do research and publish reports about Exelon, our peers and the industry in general.
· Key internal constituents and contacts include Controllership and Tax, Corporate and Utility FP&A and Financial Operations, Corporate Development, Corporate Strategy, Communications, Corporate Secretary’s office, Federal and State Regulatory and External Affairs, Corporate and Utility Customer Operations, and other Utility Business areas
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a related field required. MBA, CFA and/or CPA, preferred.
- 5-8 years combined experience in sell-side or buy-side research, investment banking, corporate development, corporate reporting, finance, and/or investor communications required, preferably including a minimum of 3 years utility industry experience and/or experience in other financial or analytical roles in the company.
- High degree of ethics and ability to exercise judgment in interacting with senior management and maintaining the confidentiality of information.
- Excellent analytical skills, including financial modeling experience and experience with analyzing and/or preparing financial statements.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Experience in compilation of effective presentations required.
- Position requires self-starter with ability to plan and execute with minimal oversight; strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence of all work products; and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects through exceptional project management and work management/planning skills.
