BALTIMORE COUNTY — Authorities in Baltimore County have announced the arrest of a 16-year-old in relation to the tragic shooting that resulted in the deaths of two siblings in Gwynn Oak.
Keith Maurice Jones Jr. has been charged with murder and will be tried as an adult. Police Chief Robert McCullough confirmed that Jones was acquainted with the victims, having visited their home just days before the incident.
The shooting occurred on July 7, when officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of Talles Road following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered 9-year-old Steve Allen and 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie deceased inside the residence.
According to police, the children's parents returned home to find their children unresponsive and immediately called 911 for assistance.
Chief McCullough noted that the most distressing calls police receive are often related to violent incidents, contrasting them with more routine complaints such as speeding and noise disturbances.
Jones is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
