BALTIMORE — A Pennsylvania man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting two teenagers in Southeast Baltimore within a span of five days.
Donnell Thomas, 21, was arrested on June 11 at a residence in the McElderry Park neighborhood. His arrest followed an investigation into two separate shooting incidents that occurred on June 6 and June 11.
In the first incident, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of North Collington Avenue, where they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. According to charging documents, the victim was outside Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle School when he was approached by three males. Witnesses reported seeing an argument before a gunshot was heard, and the suspects fled the scene.
On June 11, officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Jefferson Street, where a 17-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. The victim stated he was in front of a church with friends when he heard a gunshot and began to run, only realizing he had been shot after feeling a hot sensation. Video footage captured the shooter emerging from an alley and firing multiple shots before fleeing.
Investigators were able to identify Thomas as the shooter in both incidents through surveillance footage. After obtaining a search warrant for the home where Thomas was found, police discovered clothing matching that worn by the shooter in both shootings. During questioning, Thomas reportedly identified himself in photographs related to the June 6 incident but denied involvement in the June 11 shooting.
As a result of the evidence gathered, Thomas is currently being held at Central Booking, facing two counts of first-degree attempted murder.
