BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — A tragic incident occurred in Milford Mill on Tuesday afternoon, where a 7-year-old girl, identified as Alayah Terrell, was found with a gunshot wound inside a residence.

Police responded to the scene on Selgrave Road around 3:35 p.m. and discovered the young girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was quickly transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities are treating the incident as an accidental shooting, although the exact circumstances remain unclear. Detective Trae Corbin stated during a press briefing, “We don't know how the shooting took place, but we do believe it was accidental in nature.”

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet confirmed who owned the firearm involved in the incident. It is reported that adults were present in the home at the time of the shooting, but it is still uncertain if any charges will be filed.

Local residents expressed their grief over the incident, with one neighbor noting, “My goodness, that is very heartbreaking. I have children myself.”
