Baltimore City Schools Employee Found Dead at Arundel Elementary

Authorities reported that a Baltimore City Public Schools employee was found deceased inside Arundel Elementary School on Monday morning.

The individual, identified as 75-year-old Deborah Tolson, served as a math interventionist at the school for the past seven years. In light of the tragic event, the school opted for an early dismissal, releasing students at 10:15 a.m.

Principal Kerry-Ann Malcolm addressed the school community in a letter, expressing the deep affection and respect held for Ms. Tolson, who had dedicated 23 years to the Baltimore City Public Schools. Malcolm described her as a “pillar of the school community” and emphasized the impact she had on both students and staff.

Local resident James Lee, who lives adjacent to the school, witnessed the police response and initially speculated that they were pursuing a suspect. He recounted seeing officers focus their attention on the nearby wooded area.

In response to the incident, school officials announced that the Baltimore City Public Schools crisis team would be available to support students and staff, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.

Baltimore City Police indicated that there were no signs of trauma or foul play at the scene. They are currently awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Both Baltimore City Police and City Schools police are conducting an investigation.
