TOWSON, Md. — Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) has officially appointed Dr. William Heiser as its new superintendent during a Board of Education meeting held on Wednesday evening.
Dr. Heiser, who has nearly three decades of experience in the education sector, previously served as the chief operating officer for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. He has a history with BCPS, having been the principal of Catonsville High School from 2013 to 2015.
During the meeting, Dr. Heiser expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, "We have dedicated teachers, administrators, and staff across the entire school system. I'm looking forward to getting started with Team BCPS. We have exceptional students, and I learned that in speaking with them during the interview process, but I knew it all along. Students who are smart, innovative, talented, resilient, and kind."
Dr. Heiser was selected from a pool of finalists in a nationwide search and will take over from Dr. Myriam Rogers, who is set to retire on July 1.
