Baltimore County is advancing its plans to create a nature-oriented park known as HoneyGo Glen on a 22-acre site located on Gerst Road in Perry Hall. The county is currently soliciting public feedback as the project prepares to move into the engineering phase.
The area, which is characterized by open fields, shrubs, and a concrete pad, was acquired by the county in collaboration with the White Marsh Recreation Council from its previous owner to facilitate the park's development.
District 5 Councilman David Marks emphasized that the park's design will prioritize natural elements. "We have many active parks, but we wanted HoneyGo Glen to be a more tranquil space with trails, wildlife habitats, and a limited number of sports courts and pavilions," he stated.
Residents have already contributed their thoughts, which have helped shape an initial draft plan for the park. Marks encourages further community involvement, stating, "We want residents to review the draft available online and share their preferences before we finalize the design and proceed to engineering."
While construction is projected to be a few years away, Marks confirmed that funding for the project is already secured. "The county has the necessary funds to build this park. After the community input meeting in August, we will move forward to engineering and aim for construction within two years," he noted.
Although the broad vision for HoneyGo Glen is established, Marks mentioned that residents can still influence specific aspects of the park's design. "The general direction is set, but we welcome ongoing input from the community regarding any modifications," he added.
The public input meeting is scheduled for August 11 at HoneyGo Regional Park, providing an opportunity for local residents to engage in the planning process.
