The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of York Road. According to police, the detective was unintentionally hit by a patrol car during the chase.

The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Witnesses at the scene described the chaotic moments leading up to the incident. Lakisha Watson, who was working at a nearby gas station, observed the police activity. "I didn’t even see or hear anything until I saw the police chasing a guy across here," she recounted.

Neighbors expressed concern about the situation, initially fearing that a more serious crime had occurred. One local resident voiced his hopes that it was not a homicide, while another mentioned their initial thoughts of a shooting.
