Baltimore School Board Meeting Disrupted by Inappropriate Video

A recent meeting of the Baltimore City School Board was abruptly interrupted when a pornographic video was played during the public comment segment on Tuesday night.

According to Sherry Christian, a spokesperson for Baltimore City Public Schools, the video was described as "graphically offensive". The circumstances surrounding how the video was played remain unclear, particularly because it occurred during a section that included prerecorded comments.

While a reporter observing the meeting from home only saw a frozen image of Board Chair Robert Salley, attendees present in the room witnessed the inappropriate content. Christian stated that the meeting was paused immediately upon detection of the video.

“The meeting was recessed briefly while our team assessed the implications and determined the safest way to proceed,” Christian noted.

After the disruption, Salley returned to announce that the livestream would be terminated and that the remainder of the meeting would occur in person. At the time, several board members were participating via Microsoft Teams, which was subsequently ended shortly after his announcement.

The continuation of the meeting is being recorded and will be made available on City Schools TV on YouTube. Christian emphasized that the school district is currently investigating the source of the disruption.

“We take this incident very seriously and are actively working with our technology team to prevent similar disruptions in the future,” she added.
