Body Camera Footage Reveals Moments After Fatal Stabbing at Texas Track Meet

Footage from both a police officer's body camera and surveillance cameras has been released, depicting the immediate aftermath of a tragic stabbing incident at a Texas high school track meet last year.

In the incident, Karmelo Anthony, 19, was found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf on June 10 and has since been sentenced to 35 years in prison. The jury dismissed Anthony's self-defense argument during the trial, which concluded recently.

The surveillance video captures a rainy day at the track, with the scene unfolding in the stadium bleachers. A figure dressed in a gray sweatshirt emerges from behind a yellow tent and descends the bleachers, appearing to flee the scene.

As the video continues, the individual stumbles and falls but quickly regains their footing and runs along the edge of the fencing that separates the bleachers from the track. After a brief pause to glance back, presumably at someone pursuing him, the figure continues running.

Eventually, the individual meets up with another unidentified person, and they share a brief conversation and a hug before being joined by a third person. Following further discussion, Anthony approaches a police officer, who then places him in handcuffs.

In a moment captured on video, Anthony is heard expressing distress, saying, "He put his hands on me. I told him not to. He put his hands on me," as officers escort him to a police cruiser.

This footage was part of a larger batch of evidence released by the Collin County court after the trial's conclusion.
