BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A serious bus accident occurred on Wednesday evening in Pikesville, injuring more than 30 individuals when an MTA bus collided with several vehicles before crashing into a nearby building.

The Baltimore County Fire Department reported that the incident took place on the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road, with multiple vehicles involved, including one that overturned.

Emergency calls regarding the crash began coming in just before 6 p.m. Of the 33 injured, at least one person was reported in critical condition and was subsequently airlifted by Maryland State Police.

Fire Chief Joseph Dixon described the scene as resembling a "war scene" due to the extensive damage and chaotic nature of the incident. Photos from the scene revealed numerous damaged cars and debris scattered across the area, including bricks and car parts.

In response to the crash, over 100 first responders from various jurisdictions, including Anne Arundel and Howard counties, were deployed to the scene. At least 15 ambulances were utilized to transport the injured.

Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the collisions, although there has been no indication yet regarding whether speed was a contributing factor.

As a result of the accident, Reisterstown Road remains closed in both directions between Old Court Road and McHenry Avenue. Residents are advised to avoid the area while emergency crews continue their work.
