NORTH EAST, Md. — Authorities in Cecil County are urging residents to be vigilant after Edward Bunn, a 53-year-old man, was accused of stalking and assaulting multiple women since moving to the area.
Maryland State Police spokesperson Elena Russo stated that recent reports have detailed Bunn's troubling behavior towards two female victims, prompting law enforcement to take action.
Bunn's legal troubles began in May when he allegedly visited a victim's home with a bottle of bourbon, intending to welcome her to the neighborhood. Instead, he reportedly assaulted her, leading to his arrest. Following this incident, a judge set his bail at $25,000, which he was able to post. However, he was arrested again just three days later for violating probation.
Later that month, Bunn reportedly became fixated on a bartender at the Hollywood Casino. Witnesses reported that he would knock on her door late at night and attempt to force entry into her home. He also followed her in his blue Chevrolet Silverado during her running sessions.
Investigators have released a photo of the vehicle in hopes that the public might recognize it. Russo indicated that Bunn used this truck to stalk female victims, observing their daily activities, including shopping and running errands.
It has come to light that Bunn is a convicted sex offender, having previously raped two women at gunpoint in Virginia two decades ago. Since his release, he has faced additional charges, including an incident in La Plata earlier this year where he followed a teenage girl home from a store.
Authorities are concerned that there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. Russo encouraged anyone with information to contact the police, emphasizing the importance of community awareness in addressing Bunn's alleged actions.
