OCEAN CITY, Md. — The U.S. Coast Guard has officially suspended its search operations for a boater who went missing off the coast of Ocean City.

Search efforts commenced on June 11, following a missing persons report filed for the individual. Over the course of nearly 20 hours, search teams conducted extensive operations both by air and sea.

The search covered an expansive area of 2,539 square nautical miles, roughly equivalent to the size of the state of Delaware. Despite these efforts, no signs of the missing boater have been found.

During the search, crews successfully located and recovered the missing person's boat. The vessel has since been returned to the family of the missing individual.
