After approximately 20 hours of searching, the U.S. Coast Guard has officially suspended its search for a boater who went missing off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland.

According to a news release from the Coast Guard, the individual is believed to have fallen overboard from their vessel. The search area spanned over 2,500 square nautical miles, an expanse comparable to the nearby Delaware River.

On Friday evening, the missing boater's vessel was towed back to shore. Friends and family later retrieved the boat on Saturday afternoon, as confirmed by officials.

As of now, the Coast Guard has not provided any additional details regarding the incident. The Ocean City Police Department has also not responded to requests for comments on the situation.
