The Baltimore Police Department is investigating a mass shooting that occurred on July 19 in the Mt. Winans neighborhood, but no arrests have been made yet.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Hollins Ferry Road around 9:45 PM, discovering two male victims, aged 18 and 21, who had sustained gunshot wounds. The older victim was reported to be in critical condition.
Shortly after, another 18-year-old male arrived at a nearby Baltimore City Fire station seeking assistance for his own gunshot injury. In total, six victims were connected to the shooting, which included two 17-year-old males and one 19-year-old male who were later treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.
Investigators have been focusing their efforts on Pierpont Street, located behind a convenience store off Hollins Ferry Road, where bullet holes were found in at least one vehicle and blood stains were visible on the sidewalk.
Local residents expressed their disbelief at the incident, particularly given the involvement of juveniles. Welton Lloyd, a lifelong resident of the area, commented on the unexpected nature of such violence, stating, “We didn’t have this, fights but not shootings like this.”
As detectives continue their investigation, the police have yet to provide details regarding a potential motive or whether the shooting was a result of an exchange of gunfire.
