Couple Arrested in Baltimore County Following Rhode Island Kidnapping Incident

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — A couple was arrested in Baltimore County on Sunday in connection with a kidnapping that originated in Rhode Island. The suspects, 38-year-old Sahaira Villanueva and 30-year-old Alexandro Legreat, were taken into custody after a police pursuit.

According to reports, the incident unfolded around 3:50 p.m. when Maryland State Police notified Baltimore County Police that the suspects were in the Essex area. Officers, along with assistance from Maryland State Police Aviation, located the vehicle driven by Villanueva and Legreat.

When officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the suspects refused to stop, leading to a chase. Police deployed stop sticks, which successfully deflated several tires on the suspects' car. The vehicle ultimately struck a curb, prompting Villanueva and Legreat to flee on foot with two young children.

During the pursuit, a Baltimore County Police dog apprehended Legreat, resulting in his arrest. Villanueva was taken into custody without incident. The two children, aged 2 years and 4 months, were found unharmed and were transported to a local hospital for observation.

Authorities confirmed that no officers were injured during the chase, and there was no damage to police or civilian vehicles. The Maryland State Police is collaborating with the Rhode Island State Police as the investigation continues. Both suspects are expected to face charges related to traffic violations and assault on an officer.
