A man from Crofton was taken into custody on Thursday evening after authorities discovered a firearm during a traffic stop in Laurel.
According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:35 p.m. on July 23 in the 3300 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road. Officers pulled over a Volkswagen Jetta for a traffic violation.
During the stop, police noted that the passenger exhibited suspicious behavior. Following standard procedure, they conducted a search of the vehicle.
It was during this search that officers found a handgun located directly under the seat occupied by the passenger.
The individual, identified as 25-year-old Jordan Tyron McKinley, now faces charges related to illegal possession of a firearm, along with several other associated charges.
