Montgomery County, Md. — A driver operating a moving truck has been cited for several traffic violations after a serious accident that resulted in injuries to ten people, including three children.
The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 1:43 p.m. when Montgomery County police and emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Columbia Pike and Fairland Road.
According to police reports, the driver of a 2018 Hino moving truck was traveling northbound on Columbia Pike when he collided with ten vehicles that were halted in traffic.
All injured parties were transported to nearby hospitals, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the moving truck remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment from drugs or alcohol.
In connection with the crash, the driver has been issued multiple citations, including:
- Negligent driving that endangered life, property, and persons
- Failure to control vehicle speed to avoid a collision
- Driving at an unreasonable speed on the highway
- Following another vehicle too closely
The collision also caused significant damage to the vehicles involved, including a Tesla Cyber Truck, which was reported to be split in half. A total of nine vehicles, along with the moving truck, were towed from the scene.
