Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident involving a motorcycle and a Tesla in Prince George's County early Sunday morning, as reported by Maryland State Police.
The deceased have been identified as 48-year-old Matthew Eric Vowell and 47-year-old Krystal Ann Vowell, both residents of Friendship, along with 22-year-old Adriana Lanae Maxwell from Glen Burnie.
The collision occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Route 301 at the intersection with Governors Park Lane. Preliminary investigations indicate that the black Tesla Model 3 was making a left turn from Route 301 onto Governors Park Lane when it did not yield to a southbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Tesla.
Matthew Vowell, who was operating the motorcycle, and his passenger, Krystal Vowell, were pronounced dead at the scene, along with Maxwell, who was a rear-seat passenger in the Tesla. The driver of the Tesla was transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Authorities suspect that a third vehicle may have struck Krystal Vowell after the initial impact and subsequently fled the scene. The police have not yet provided a description of this vehicle.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with road closures that remained in effect for over four hours as investigators examined the crash site.
