Federal Hill Shootout Leads to Conviction of Local Man

A Baltimore man has been convicted for his role in a shootout that occurred in the Federal Hill neighborhood in April 2025, according to the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office.

Dionte White was found guilty of discharging 16 rounds during a confrontation between two vehicles in the 1100 and 1400 blocks of S. Hanover Street. The incident, which took place around 2 a.m. on April 27, resulted in a chaotic scene as police responded to multiple gunshots in a busy area.

Evidence presented in court indicated that White arrived at the scene in a Honda minivan. Surveillance footage captured him parking the vehicle on W. Cross Street and later engaging in a heated exchange with another group at a nearby gas station.

Following the verbal confrontation, gunfire erupted from a black Acura, which fled the scene. White and an unidentified companion then returned to the Honda, where White was seen driving and firing shots from the vehicle at the fleeing Acura.

Authorities recovered numerous shell casings from the scene and utilized surveillance footage to track down White’s vehicle, which was registered in his name. The Honda was later impounded by detectives.

White now faces a potential sentence of up to 70 years in prison. He is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on September 17. Additionally, he is facing an extra 15 years for violating probation related to previous assault and firearm charges.

City States Attorney Ivan Bates commented on the case, stating, "This conviction sends a clear message that reckless acts of retaliatory gun violence will not be tolerated in Baltimore City." Bates emphasized the danger posed by such incidents, noting that it was fortunate no one was killed during the shootout.
