Fells Point Implements New Security Measures Amid Concerns Over Teen Gatherings

BALTIMORE — In response to a series of large teen gatherings in Fells Point, city officials have ramped up security measures to address concerns surrounding underage drinking and disruptive behavior.

New barriers and security personnel have been deployed along South Broadway during weekend nights. These measures aim to prevent unaccompanied minors from entering areas known for their bar scene after curfew hours.

Mayor Brandon Scott acknowledged the changes but stated that more work is needed to ensure safety in the community. He noted that curfew enforcement has been a longstanding practice in the city and emphasized the role of parents in holding their children accountable for their whereabouts.

Scott highlighted that while the focus is on the behavior of teenagers, law enforcement has encountered children as young as four years old wandering far from home late at night, raising additional concerns about safety.
