The Baltimore City Fire Department responded to a manhole fire in the Charles Village area on Thursday, July 2, around 4:00 p.m.
Fire units were dispatched to the intersection of St. Paul Street and E. 28th Street after receiving reports of an outdoor fire.
Upon their arrival, firefighters noticed light smoke and quickly identified the source as a fire within a manhole.
Assistance was requested from Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), the Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) to help manage the situation.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
