Baltimore City fire crews successfully extinguished a fire on a ship docked in the Canton Industrial Area on Monday morning.
Emergency responders received reports of the blaze near the 2000 block of South Clinton Street around 11 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered significant fire conditions affecting two rescue boats.
According to department spokesperson Khalilah Yancey, the fire was quickly brought under control, prompting the issuance of a second alarm to ensure sufficient resources were available.
While several Navy vessels are stationed nearby, Yancey could not confirm the specific ship involved in the incident. The U.S. Maritime Administration, which oversees the vessels, has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the fire.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, and the cause is currently under investigation.
