Five Arrested for Vandalism at Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

Five individuals have been taken into custody following allegations of vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, as confirmed by a senior official from the Trump administration.

The Reflecting Pool, which recently underwent a $15 million renovation, has faced criticism due to the emergence of algae and signs of deterioration, including peeling of the new blue coating at the bottom.

In addition to the arrests, five others received federal citations, and a total of 14 police reports have been documented. One incident mentioned involved claims that a blade was used to damage a section of the pool, as noted in a post by Trump on Truth Social.

Trump further alleged that chemicals were unlawfully introduced into the water and that new grass surrounding the pool had been harmed. He emphasized the seriousness of such actions, stating, "Please remember that there is a 10 year prison sentence for the destruction, or even the attempted destruction, of such things - Which will be fully enforced!"

Atlantic Industrial Coatings, the company responsible for the new coating through a no-bid contract, addressed the concerns in a statement, indicating that the areas requiring repair constitute a "very small part" of the overall 7-acre project. They noted that repairs could only commence once the pool is drained and assured that they would return to complete the necessary work under warranty.
