In the early hours of Friday, July 10, a fuel tanker crashed into multiple parked vehicles in the 3800 block of Hanover Street, leading to a hazardous material situation, as reported by Baltimore Police.
Authorities received the call about the accident at approximately 2:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the tanker had struck several cars, causing a leak of around 20 gallons of fuel onto the roadway.
Emergency response teams from the Baltimore City Fire Department were dispatched to address the situation. Fire officials confirmed the presence of the fuel spill and worked to contain the leak. The Maryland Department of the Environment was also called to the scene to assist with the cleanup and assess the environmental impact.
The driver of the tanker, a 42-year-old man, was initially taken into custody after exhibiting behavior that suggested he may have been impaired. However, subsequent investigations revealed that he was not under the influence of alcohol, resulting in his release.
