BALTIMORE, MD — The Baltimore Police Department is investigating the death of a 31-year-old man as a homicide following a fire in the Cherry Hill neighborhood.

Emergency responders were called to the scene on the 2300 block of Round Road at approximately 10 p.m. on June 9. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Chiekh Dieng, who was found outside a ground-floor apartment.

Dieng, a Senegalese immigrant, had reportedly come to the United States seeking a better life, according to those who knew him.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the fire or the investigation. The case remains active as police seek to determine the events leading up to the tragic incident.
