Investigation Launched into Alleged Misconduct at Hagerstown Prison

The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is conducting a joint investigation with the Maryland State Police into alleged misconduct at the Roxbury Correctional Institution in Hagerstown.

This probe follows the discovery of an inmate's body in his cell on May 20. The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Colin Wolf.

Officials have indicated that the investigation is focused on potential criminal misconduct by correctional officers and other staff members at the facility. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, further details have not been disclosed.

In conjunction with the criminal investigation, DPSCS has taken disciplinary measures against 19 correctional officers and has barred eight medical staff members from working in its facilities. An administrative review conducted by the department found that these individuals had violated agency standards.

The investigation highlights ongoing concerns about safety and conduct within correctional institutions in Maryland, as officials work to address these serious allegations.
