The latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report have recognized the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, as the leading hospital for gastroenterology and gastrointestinal (GI) surgery in the United States.

Following closely behind, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles secured the second position, while Cleveland Clinic in Ohio maintained its third-place ranking.

New York's NYU Langone Hospitals climbed to fourth place from last year's fifth, and Mount Sinai Hospital also improved its ranking, moving to fifth from eighth.

Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore retained its sixth-place position, affirming its reputation as a premier institution for GI care. Other notable hospitals in the top ten include:

  • Houston Methodist Hospital - 7th
  • UCLA Medical Center - 8th (down from 4th)
  • Massachusetts General Hospital - 9th
  • Northwestern Medicine-Northwestern Memorial Hospital - 10th

U.S. News evaluated a total of 1,569 hospitals specializing in GI care, ultimately ranking the top 50 based on their ability to treat complex conditions affecting the digestive system, including inflammatory bowel disease and liver disorders.

This year, 20 hospitals across 13 states were also recognized on the honor roll for their excellence in multiple areas of healthcare.
