Kansas City, Missouri, authorities are actively searching for a suspect linked to a series of shootings that occurred on Tuesday evening, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, is wanted for his involvement in the violent incidents that unfolded between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. Police believe all shootings are connected to him.

The initial shooting took place near the intersection of Interstate 670 and Wyoming. Following this, additional incidents were reported as the suspect moved eastward across the city, with further shootings occurring near Interstate 70 and Paseo, Interstate 70 and Prospect, Truman and Hardesty, and finally Truman and Bennington at 6:30 p.m.

At the Truman and Bennington site, one victim crashed into a light pole after being shot and later succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, four other individuals—three adults and one juvenile—were found at the other shooting locations. One adult victim is reported to be in critical condition, while the remaining three are stable.

Authorities indicated that it remains unclear which victims correspond to each shooting scene. Following the incident, Sanchez-Munoz was tracked to a residence in Independence, where he barricaded himself inside, leading to an overnight standoff with police.

By Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at the home, causing extensive damage and resulting in the deaths of five dogs. Emergency responders, including the Kansas City Fire Department and Missouri State Fire Marshal, utilized K-9 units to conduct a search of the premises. As of 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sanchez-Munoz had not yet been apprehended.

Law enforcement has also located the vehicle believed to have been used by Sanchez-Munoz during the shootings, which is now in police custody. Additionally, he has an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault in Wyandotte County.
