A large sinkhole appeared in East Baltimore early Saturday morning, consuming part of the roadway and leaving a car partially submerged.
The incident occurred around 12:21 a.m. at the intersection of North Chester Street and Ashland Avenue, as reported by the Baltimore Police Department. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Social media footage captured the scene, showing the vehicle caught in the sinkhole, which spanned the entire width of the street in the Middle East neighborhood. Emergency crews quickly cordoned off the area to ensure public safety.
This event echoes a similar incident from the previous year, when a vehicle was also trapped in a sinkhole on Brehms Lane in the Belair-Edison neighborhood. Niki Fennoy, a spokesperson for the Baltimore Police Department, noted that there were no injuries in that case either.
