BALTIMORE — In his recent State of the City address, Mayor Brandon Scott showcased the progress made during his first term, particularly in the realm of public safety.

Scott announced a significant 40% reduction in crime since 2020, alongside the removal of 10,000 firearms from the streets. He expressed confidence in the effectiveness of the Comprehensive Violence Prevention Plan, stating, "Every year, U.S. News puts out a list of the 25 most dangerous cities in America. This year, Baltimore isn’t on the list." He highlighted cities like Memphis and St. Louis as examples of those facing greater challenges.

The mayor also addressed education, responding to criticisms from former President Donald Trump regarding Baltimore's school performance.
