Memorial Service Scheduled for Three Baltimore Firefighters

A memorial service honoring Baltimore City Fire Department Lieutenants Paul Butrim and Kelsey Sadler, along with Fire Fighter/Paramedic Kenneth Lacayo, is set for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. The service will take place at the Baltimore Convention Center, located at 1 W. Pratt St., Baltimore, MD 21201, followed by a processional to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium.

The three firefighters tragically lost their lives due to a partial building collapse while battling a fire in a row house in West Baltimore.

For those unable to attend in person, the memorial will be livestreamed on the designated webpage.

To accommodate attendees, the Baltimore Hilton Inner Harbor is offering a discounted room rate of $109 per night for IAFF members from January 31 to February 3, 2022. Other local hotels have also partnered with Visit Baltimore to provide special rates for firefighters attending the event.

Additionally, Baltimore Firefighters IAFF Local 734 will host a hospitality event on February 1, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to midnight, offering food and drinks for all attendees at their location on Ridgely Street.

A post-wake remembrance will take place later that day at the Cow Palace at Timonium Fairgrounds, starting at 5:00 p.m., with food and drinks available.

The Maryland State Incident Management Team is coordinating the attendance of fire apparatus at the memorial service. Due to parking limitations, fire and emergency services personnel are encouraged to carpool in smaller vehicles. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation, as there will be no shuttle services provided.

Parking will be available on Camden Street, and attendees are advised to arrive early to secure a spot. Buses will be stationed on Camden Street for personnel attending the graveside services.

Local 734 and Local 964 have set up a GoFundMe account to support the families of the fallen firefighters. Donations can also be made to the Baltimore Fire Officers Charitable Foundation.
